Marjorie Peele Smith, 76, passed away
Thursday.
A service of remembrance will be held
Tuesday at 2 p.m. at New Hope United
Methodist Church, with the Rev. Todd
Krueger officiating. Interment will follow
at Fairview Cemetery in LaGrange.
Marjorie was born Feb. 4, 1933, in Wayne
County to the late George W. Peele and
Aunita Lancaster Peele.
She was an active member of New Hope
United Methodist Church and was retired
from the U.S. Department of Agriculture,
where she worked as a recorder on the
tobacco market.
Marjorie enjoyed looking for antiques, shopping at Crabtree Valley
Mall, traveling with family and the Family Y water aerobic program.
Marjorie is survived by her husband of 55 years, Al Smith; two
daughters, Pamela Jo Smith and fiance“, Christian Takash, of Raleigh
and Carla Smith Lancaster and husband, John, of Goldsboro; two
brothers, Donald Peele of Pikeville and David L. “Skeeter” Peele of
Princeton; and her beloved canine companion, Sam.
In addition to her parents, Marjorie was preceded in death by a sister,
Josephine Prebula, and a brother, George R. Peele.
The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8 at Rouse Funeral
Home and at other times they will be at the home.
