Margaret Elizabeth “Maggie” Triplett
Gwatney, 92, died peacefully early Friday
morning at the Brian Center.
Maggie was born in Watauga County to
the late Luther Triplett and Della Alma
Story Triplett. She was married to the late
Magnus Thomas Gwatney. She was a
charter member of New Hope United
Methodist Church. She was a charter
member and past-president of the
Methodist Women and was a member of
the James Carlisle Sunday school class.
Maggie was also an Odd Fellows Alumni.
Graveside services will be held Sunday at 3 p.m. at Wayne Memorial
Park with the Rev. Martin Armstrong officiating.
Maggie is survived by her daughter, Betty Jean Gauss, and her
husband, Ed, of Wilson; her sons, Nick Gwatney of Goldsboro and M.
Thomas Gwatney Jr. and his wife, Linda, of Goldsboro; her
grandchildren, Bert Rose and wife, Romona, Beth Rose Caudle and
husband, Henry, Amy Rose Morris, Mary Margaret Radford and
husband, Daryl, Niki Gwatney Hooks and husband, Eric, Doubd
Gwatney and Harper Story Gwatney; great-grandchildren, Ali Pearson,
Mary Glenn Rose Dinger and husband, Brandon, Caroline Rose, Vance
Morris, Jaxson Hooks, and Thomas N. Radford; and great-greatgrandchild,
Cannon Alexander Dinger.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to New Hope United
Methodist Church Memorial Fund, 200 E. New Hope Road, Goldsboro,
N.C. 27534.
The family will receive friends Saturday from 4 until 6 p.m. at Seymour
Funeral Home.
