Ethel Smith Boyette, 97, of 2002 N.
Berkeley Blvd., died Sunday at her home.
Born in Wayne County, she was the
daughter of the late Fennel S. and Mattie
Virginia Smith. A homemaker, she was the
wife of the late Ben R. Boyette Sr. She
was a charter member of New Hope
United Methodist Church and a previous
member of Daniels Memorial Methodist
Church.
A memorial service will be held
Wednesday at 7 p.m. at New Hope United
Methodist Church with the Rev. Clarence
“Bo” Padgett officiating. A private burial
will be held in Wayne Memorial Park.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Virginia “Sue” and
Harold Coltrane of Goldsboro; two brothers and sisters-in-law, G.B.
and Thelma Smith, of Goldsboro, Linwood and Audrey Smith of
Goldsboro; six grandchildren, Lynny Coltrane and wife, Shelia, Debbie
Sutton and husband, Frankie, Glenn Coltrane and wife, Carol, Ben
“Bob” Boyette III and wife, Charlotte, Langdon “Bitsy” Boyette,
Herndon Boyette and wife, Cathy; seven great-grandchildren, Tessa C.
Denton and husband, Jeff, Jackie Sutton, Frankie Sutton and wife,
Holly, Ginni Jo Sutton, Joshua Coltrane, Bryan Coltrane, Carly Boyette,
Jordan Boykin, Herndon Boykin, Hutchinson Boykin, Erica Rheinguber
and husband, Morgan, and Michael Paxinos and wife, Lauren; greatgreat-
grandchildren, Ben Miller, Anna Miller, Claire Denton, Brittany
Sutton and Natalie Rheinguber.
Along with her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by
her son and daughter-in-law, Dr. Ben R. Jr. and Quinn Redwine
Boyette; two brothers, George R. Smith and Brutuso Smith; three
sisters, Lillian Moye, Beatrice Corbett and Mabel Coltrane.
The family will receive friends Wednesday evening following the
service at the church. At other times, the family will be at the home.
In lieu of flowers, the family request memorial contributions be
directed to New Hope United Methodist Church, 200 E. New Hope Rd.,
Goldsboro, 27534 or The Gideons International, Goldsboro South
Camp, P.O. Box 509, Goldsboro, 27533.
The Boyette family would like to sincerely thank Louella Garrou of
Community Home Care & Hospice and ShaReva Davis for the special
loving care they provided to Mrs. Boyette.
